Red Sox Unveil Look of Future Spring Training Facility

The Red Sox’ spring training facility could look completely different yet incredibly familiar in 2012. That’s because the team released preliminary architectural renderings of the team’s new spring training facility.

The playing field is designed with the same specifications of Fenway Park, including a Green Monster in left field and a Yawkey Way-esque outer concourse that extends to the street.

“This is an incredibly exciting step in bringing ‘Fenway Park South’ to Southwest Florida,” said Jonathan Gilula, the Red Sox’ executive VP/business affairs. “These preliminary renderings are the result of tremendous effort on behalf of so many people. It reflects our pledge to replicate many of Fenway’s iconic elements while also creating a facility that respected and reflected the local environment.”

The stadium will hold roughly 11,000 people, and the complex will also include state-of-the-art training facilities, six practice fields and spacious clubhouses. There will also be grass parking lots, which will be used as soccer fields when games aren’t being played.
