“He said they don’t sign African-American kids because it’s dangerous to scout them in their cities. You go to Caracas [Venezuela] and see how dangerous it is to scout there.”

Some Red Sox fans are great. Obviously.
“[Lester]’s a great guy man. I met him last season in Atlanta when they played the braves. He was walking to his car with his wife and kid, stopped and signed my jersey. Obviously intoxicated, I then proceeded to tell him that I’d buy all his drinks if he came out with us. Regardless, he stopped, was really nice, signed my shirt and went on with it. On a side note – Lester did not go out for drinks with us. Also, maybe it was because we were in Atlanta, but the only recognition he got was someone saying ‘Hey i think that’s a baseball player’ to which i responded ‘Thats F’in Jon Lester!!’
