LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Steve Nash, Dwight Howard and Kevin Garnett are essentially househould names in America, yet no name is larger than that of Kobe Bryant.
So when the league introduced a video that poked fun at its biggest star, it seemed a bit strange. It didn't have quite the level of mean spirit that Shaquille O'Neal's freestyle rap had, but it was noteworthy nonetheless. Sure, it was all in good fun, but it's hard to see the benefit of the league insulting Bryant — even if it's meant in jest.
Now, with a Game 7 just hours away, it's worth asking what the world thinks of Bryant. Is he the guy who's on the verge of winning his fifth NBA championship, or is he the guy in that NBA.com video who is just annoying?
