FOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots rookie tight end Aaron Hernandez spoke with the media Wednesday for the first time since it was reported he failed at least one drug test in college.
Sources in the report indicated the failed tests resulted in the talented Hernandez falling to the fourth round.
"That’s in the past," Hernandez said. "I’m just worried about the future and the present, and I just keep coming out every day. I’ve forgotten about the past. I just keep grinding, trying to do the best I can for this team."
Hernandez would not confirm or deny anything written in the report. He was also asked if he had to prove his off-the-field character as much as his on-field performance.
"That’s the past," Hernandez said. "People will think what they want. I just come out here, like I said, every day, and I just keep fighting, and playing ball, and trying to become the best player I can be and help the team as much as I can."
