Bobby Valentine Back in Dugout As Cape Cod League All-Star Game Honorary Captain
Valentine was the honorary captain for the Eastern Division All-Stars in the Cape Cod League All-Star Game at Fenway Park, and was on hand for all of the pregame festivities.
Valentine, a Stamford, Conn., native who currently works as an analyst for Baseball Tonight, has recently stated interest in becoming the next Chicago Cubs manager , after current skipper Lou Piniella retires after this year.
But when asked if being back on the field at Fenway intensified his itch to manage again, Valentine dismissed the notion.
"All these kids want to do is have fun and win," Valentine said with a grin. "This is nothing like a big league atmosphere."
Valentine should know a thing or two about fun. In a June 1999 game as the Mets’ manager, Valentine was ejected from the game and came back to the dugout wearing a fake mustache disguise.
