Lackey, who spent eight years in an Angels uniform and won a World Series in 2002 before leaving as a free agent last winter, made the start Tuesday night for the Red Sox. When his name was announced before the game, he received boos, and that not-so-friendly welcome was multiplied when he climbed the dugout steps before the bottom of the first.
The boos didn't bother Lackey, who retired the Angels in order in the first inning.
Lackey faced the Angels earlier in the season, giving up one run on two hits and two walks over seven innings in a 3-1 Red Sox win.
