Report: Marquis Daniels Agrees to One-Year Contract With Celtics

The Celtics have filled their backup swingman position with a familiar name, getting Marquis Daniels back for another year, according to the Boston Herald.

The report says that Daniels and the Celtics agreed to a one-year pact worth $2.5 million. Daniels' agent, Mark Bartlestein, told the Herald that the one-year deal gives Daniels a chance to earn a big payday next summer.

"He’s a $5 million or $6 million player when he’s healthy," Bartelstein told the newspaper. "So we’ll do this now. He loves the team. He loves playing for Doc [Rivers], and he loves the guys."

Daniels played in just 51 games in the regular season, limited by a torn ligament in his thumb. He averaged 5.6 points and 1.9 rebounds in 18.4 minutes per game. He saw action in 11 playoff games, averaging just 1.5 points in 3.4 minutes per game.
