This happens several times a game, but the lucky recipient isn’t always as revered as documentarian Ken Burns.
Best known for his 1994 epic nine part documentary Baseball, Burns is also a die-hard Red Sox fan. He threw out the first pitch of the Orioles and Red Sox game at Fenway on Tuesday before catching a foul ball later in the contest.
Burns is in town promoting his latest documentary The 10th Inning, which is an extension to his original documentary about the game. The new film will cover the steroid era, the influx of international players in MLB, the Red Sox 2004 World Series and the Yankees dynasty in the 1990s. It is set to air in two parts on PBS on Sept. 28 and Sept. 29.
