A lesson on fisticuffs, that is.
A massive brawl broke out between teams representing Brazil and China earlier this week and in non-NBA fashion, actual punches were thrown. A few kicks were, too.
It was the final contest of a three-game series (the series was tied 1-1), which was being played as a warm-up for next month’s Asian Games in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou.

“I think they’ll have to take a second look and just see how it affects the game, especially the stars. You know, people pay good money to come out and see the stars play. And even though we have to play within the rules, I think there has to be some kind of leniency. When a guy turns and just looks at you for a technical, that can cost you a game, or at least that can cost you a player coming out of the game. I think they have to take a second look, really hard, and understand that this is an emotional game. Players are going to use emotion, and that’s never going to stop.”

With one day before the ALCS, now would be a good time to change up the postseason layout.
“It should be Yankees vs. Phillies and Rangers vs. Giants. That way the two most complete teams could compete in the World Series – namely the Phils and Giants. Another idea is to have the American League champs use the DH for all series games and the National League team have the pitchers bat in every game. That would level the playing field and make for a more competitive series.”
