Derek Jeter Is Perfect Person to Introduce Tom Brady on NFL Network’s ‘Top 100’
Brady will be featured later this week as part of The Top 100, a show on NFL Network counting down the 100 best NFL players of all time. Brady is set to land on the list at No. 21.
The series features profiles of each member on the list with each being introduced by someone, a practice similar in a way to that of an NFL Hall of Fame induction.
Who introduces Brady? None other than Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter. And you know what? It's the perfect choice.
For those who think that Jeter is the wrong choice because he plays for a hated rival, it's important to remember that players of this stature are bigger than that. They transcend the rivalries.
Brady and Jeter are both among the best ever at what they do. They are bona fide winners and both have dominated their sports — at least in terms of championships — for the majority of the careers. The two have been at or near the top for some time now.
Brady and Jeter both experienced success early on, something that has clearly driven them both throughout their Hall of Fame careers.
"If you're fortunate enough to win early in your career, that's all you want to do," Jeter said when talking about the success both him and Brady have had.
These guys both get it. They know what it takes to win, and more importantly, especially in today's society of sports, they are both willing to buy into it. That's where the mutual respect comes from. They've both been there and they've both done that.
They are the rocks of their respective teams, the guys that are looked at when things may be going poorly and are expected to remain calm, cool and collected. They've both done that their entire career and have prospered because of it.
"As a teammate, if you're looking at the leader and he's calm, it rubs off of everyone else," Jeter said in regards to something both him and Brady are notorious for.
It may be tough to admit for Patriots fans, but at the end of the day, Brady and Jeter are very much alike, making the discussion for Jeter to introduce Brady all the more appropriate.
