Dwight Howard was surrounded by cheering fans on Sunday, but he wasn’t on the basketball court.
The Orlando Magic star was baptized in the ocean near New Smyrna Beach, along with other new members of Orlando’s Summit Church, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
It took two pastors to dunk Howard, who is 6-foot-11 and 265 pounds.
"It feels great, man," Howard said afterward, according to the Sentinel.
Summit Church is an evangelical Christian congregation with approximately 2,500 members.
About 500 people watched the ceremony from the beach, cheering on Howard and taking pictures. The report points out that not one person from the crowd approached him to ask for an autograph or photo.
