Lakers’ Shannon Brown Engaged to Singer Monica

Shannon Brown began his relationship with R&B star Monica while he was still seeing the mother of his child.

Desptite that controversy, which saw the singer labeled a “homewrecker” by some in the media, the bond between Brown and Monica has remained strong, and the two are now engaged.

Monica announced the engagement via Twitter early Sunday morning with the following statement:

“We realize people will have their opinions. That’s the way of the world.But we know who we are&who’s we are.We pray 2 an awesome God 2gether… And that is what keeps us strong. So for all my real supporters who are happy for me. I thank u, I love u, & I’m realistic enough about life… To know my journey has just begun. I don’t have anything else to say about it.2 people who judge. If u worked on self u wouldn’t even see me”

She also tweeted pictures of what a few of her Twitter followers believe to be her massive engagement ring.

Brown, of course, is not the only Laker with a high-profile significant other. Lamar Odom is married to Khloe Kardashian, and Sasha Vujacic is dating Maria Sharapova.
