FOXBORO, Mass. — Despite leading the Patriots to four wins and seemingly throwing the ball better this season than he did in 2009, quarterback Tom Brady doesn’t sound exactly satisfied with his own performance in 2010.
Comparatively speaking, Brady is 11th in the NFL with 240.6 passing yards per game, tied for fourth with 10 touchdown passes and sixth with a 98.5 passer rating (his career passer rating is 93.5). The Patriots, who are one of three teams with just one loss, are also leading the league with 30.8 points per game.
Yet, Brady pointed to some offensive inconsistency, which was true during portions of games against the Jets, Dolphins and Ravens. Brady was also unsatisfied with the Patriots' 13 three-and-outs in their 50 offensive possessions in 2010.
He sounded like a man who demanded more accountability from his own game.
"I’m looking to do better," Brady said. "That’s my assessment. I'm trying to make more plays, make more reads, make better throws and get us in the end zone more. I think we’ve been inconsistent as an offense. We have to do a better job of getting the ball and fewer three-and-outs. That's something we're trying to do better at. All around, I just have to start making some better throws."
