Deion Branch, Alge Crumpler Admit Patriots Receivers Need to Run Better Routes

FOXBORO, Mass. — Tom Brady's on-field frustration with the Patriots' offense Sunday was wildly visible.

The drops, failed third-down attempts and low time of possession could be attributed to a whole heap of things. One theory is the Patriots miss Randy Moss.

But two offensive players said Monday the receivers are freelancing too many routes. Wide receiver Deion Branch said there were too many instances when players were "running around, making up plays, making up routes."

Tight end Alge Crumpler, who is one of the team's most prominent leaders, shared a similar sentiment.

"For us," Crumpler said, "it's important for us to go out there and do our job, run our route the way we're coached to run our route, and catch the football when it's thrown to us."
