Final, UNH 5-2: The University of New Hampshire now has the longest unbeaten streak in the country as they serve Boston University with their first loss of the 2010 season.
The Terriers took an early 1-0 lead, but it was the Wildcats persistent offense that led to the 5-2 victory at their home arena.
BU will get their chance at revenge on Saturday night, as the home-and-home series continues tomorrow at Agganis Arena in Boston. UNH senior Paul Thompson led the way for the Wildcats, scoring two goals and adding an assist.
David Warsofsky scored both goals for Boston University.
Third Period, 4:35, UNH 5-2: Clendening comes out of the penalty box, only to head back in for another two minutes. The freshman defensman is nabbed for elbowing, and gives UNH another power play opportunity.
Third Period, 5:16, UNH 5-2: The BU penalty kill is sparking the most offense of the period, as the Terriers pick up a few shots on net during a 3-on-1 opportunity.
Third Period, 6:52, UNH 5-2: Clendening picks up his second penalty of the night, as UNH goes back on the power play with just over five minutes to play. Clendening is called for a slash in the aftermath of Moses' attempt on net.
Third Period, 7:04, UNH 5-2: Meanwhile, UNH is still fired up as junior Stevie Moses zips in the offensive zone for an open look at Millan. Moses tries to sneak it low through the left side, but he dings it off the post.
Third Period, 8:04, UNH 5-2: BU finally gets a few looks on DiGirolamo, but they're losing steam fast as the clock ticks toward their first loss of the 2010 season.

Third Period, 11:25, UNH 5-2: BU needs to take some chances here if they want to score another one, but UNH is maintaining great structure in this final period, preventing any attempt by BU. The Terriers haven't attempted a shot in over two minutes. UNH holds a 42-18 edge in shots on goal in this one.

Second Period, 1:15, UNH 5-2: UNH takes advantage of the power play opportunity, as senior Phil DeSimone converts on a deflection at the right corner of the BU net. It's DeSimone's third point of the night, and the most goals BU has given up this season.
Second Period, 2:35, UNH 4-2: As UNH's Blake Kessel, yes Phil's younger brother, heads in for an attempt on Millan, his aim for the upper right corner is denied. UNH comes away with an advantage however, as Adam Clendening is called for a cross checking penalty on the play.
Second Period, 3:59, UNH 4-2: UNH survives the power play and goes back on the attack. Freshman forward Jeff Silengo takes a point-blank shot on Millan, but somehow the junior netminder comes up with the save. Millan already has 29 saves in this one.
Second Period, 7:36, UNH 4-2: BU goes on the power play again, as another interference call goes against UNH. Borisenok heads the the penalty box with the infraction.
Second Period, 8:21, UNH 4-2: BU strikes with 10 seconds remaining on the 5-on-3 advantage as two quick passes find Warsofsky on the right side. Warsofsky one-times it into the short side, pulling the Terriers within two of the Wildcats' lead. Max Nicastro and Alex Chiasson pick up assists on the play.
Second Period, 9:50, UNH 4-1: If BU wants to regain some ground, this is the place to do it. UNH is called for a second interference penalty, this time on captain Mike Sislo. BU takes a 5-on-3 advantage.
Second Period, 10:26, UNH 4-1: UNH and BU will play 29 seconds of 4-on-4 action, as Wildcat forward Austin Block is called for a interference penalty.
Second Period, 11:55, UNH 4-1: BU heads back into the penalty box as Alex Chiasson is called for cross checking. UNH is 0-for-2 on power play opportunities in this matchup.
Second Period, 14:56, UNH 4-1: UNH starts to pull away with a three-goal cushion five minutes into the second period. Nick Sorkin scores his first collegiate goal on a great cross-ice pass from Mike Borisenok. Sorkin skates in from the left and buries the puck into the right corner past Millan.
Sorkin's goal was the first scored by a UNH freshman this season.
Second Period, 14:56, UNH 3-1: Paul Thompson plays clean-up in front of the net again, scooping up a rebound off a Damon Kipp slapshot from the center point. Thompson lifts from the right side over Millan.
Jack Parker argues the goal, and refs review the replay for several minutes. It appears Millan kicked the post as the puck crossed the line, causing the net to go off its peg. After a long discussion with Parker, the goal stands, UNH takes the 3-1 lead.
Second Period, 19:35, UNH 2-1: BU wastes no time back on even strength to kick off the second period. The Terriers take the first two shots of the second on DiGirolamo.
End of First, UNH 2-1: BU has 11 seconds left to kill off from Escobedo's penalty, and did well surviving the UNH advantage at the end of the period.
First Period, 1:00, UNH 2-1: Millan has already made 14 saves in this period for the Terriers, and he's stopped six shots by UNH since the 5-on-3 advantage began.
First Period, 2:36, UNH 2-1: One penalty ticks off for the BU without any damage done by the Wildcat offense. They'll continue on a 5-on-4 advantage for the remainder of the first.
First Period, 4:46, UNH 2-1: When it rains it pours. UNH takes a 5-on-3 advantage with 4:46 left in the first. Sean Escobedo is called for a hit from behind and he'll take the long walk to the locker room. He's penalized for a five-minute major.

First Period, 12:01, UNH 2-1: Sparked by their excited crowd, UNH finds the back of the net again. Sophomore forward John Henrion carries the puck from the back of the net in front of Millan where he pulls a quick wrister right through the five-hole.
First Period, 13:46, 1-1: The UNH fans couldn't hold back their excitement as their team quickly evened the score at one. During their celebration, a panel of glass comes loose behind the BU net and falls onto the ice. Game is delayed a few minutes while officials fix the panel.

First Period, 17:36, BU 1-0: Bruins prospect David Warsofsky strikes first for the Terriers early in the first period. Fresh off a line change, freshman forward Charlie Coyle dug the puck out of the corner to find Warsofsky right in front of the net. The junior D ripped a shot in the upper right corner for the score.
First Period, 18:40, 0-0: Two junior goaltenders are between the pipes for both teams tonight, as Kieran Millan starts for Boston University, and Matt DiGirolamo in net for the Wildcats.
7:00 p.m.: The implications of this matchup are growing by the minute. UNH has yet to record a loss since Oct. 9, while BU is the only undefeated team in the country.
Boston University is heading north to Durham to kick off a home-and-home clash with the University of New Hampshire.
While they have yet to incur a loss in Hockey East action, the Terriers have not won a game in November. Looking to snap their three-game tie streak, the young BU squad will get their first look at the Wildcats on Friday night at the Whittemore Center.
BU picked up a pair of ties against Merrimack last weekend, coming from behind last Saturday to tie the Warriors, 3-3. UNH is also coming off a 3-3 tie in their last matchup against U-Mass Amherst.
The Hockey East series isn't just for conference bragging rights. The two teams are also battling in the national ranks. BU currently ranks second in the nation, just behind Minnesota Duluth in the top spot. UNH ranks seventh in the poll.
The puck is scheduled to drop at 7 p.m.
