Red Sox Acquire Utility-Infielder Brent Dlugach from Tigers
The Red Sox are already making moves.
On Thursday, Theo Epstein announced Boston’s acquisition of infielder Brent Dlugach from the Detroit Tigers for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
The 27-year-old spent all of the 2010 MLB season with Detroit’s Triple-A affiliate in Toledo. The right-handed hitter had a strong season, batting .258 with six home runs and 41 RBIs. He smacked 22 doubles and stole 12 bases in 117 games.
Dlugach is no slouch with the glove either. He combined for a .947 fielding percentage in 100 games at shortstop, 14 at third base and two at second.
Detroit originally selected the versatile Dlugach in the sixth round of the 2004 draft. He was named an International League All-Star in 2009, the same year he made his major league debut with the Tigers.
