Report: Yankees, Mariano Rivera at Odds on Length of New Contract

The Yankees are looking more and more confident that they don't think franchise cornerstones Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera are going to go anywhere.

According to Yahoo's Jeff Passan via MLBTradeRumors.com, the Yankees would prefer to give Rivera a one-year deal. As the website points out, however, the future Hall of Famer has indicated that he would rather sign a two-year deal.

The number in question, like with Jeter, seems to be the years, not the money. Both the Yankees and Rivera sound like they're willing to lock in around the $18-20 million range.

The general consensus is that Jeter and Rivera aren't going anywhere, but more and more it's starting to look like the Yankees aren't going to make the process incredibly easy, either.
