Soccer Star Landon Donovan Files for Divorce From ‘Rules of Engagement’ Actress Bianca Kajlich

After being separated for more than a year, Landon Donovan and Bianca Kajlich are getting divorced.

Donovan filed for divorce from the Rules of Engagement actress on Tuesday in Los Angeles, according to People. The petition concludes a year of controversy for the American soccer star.

He separated from Kajlich in October 2009 and was rumored to be back with her during the World Cup, only to face new rumors that he was the father of a British love child.

That turned out to be false, but in the end, the couple, which married in December 2006, never got back together.

Fear not, though, ye of gentle hearts. They’re still friends.

“We remain the closest of friends and will always be important parts of each other’s lives,” they said in a joint statement.

Donovan also tweeted that “Christmas done came early” last week while linking to a picture of Kajlich in Maxim. So that’s kind of weird.
