Denver Broncos Fire Head Coach Josh McDaniels

The Josh McDaniels era in Denver is apparently over.

According to the team's official Twitter feed, Broncos owner Pat Bowlan has "relieved Josh McDaniels of his head coaching duties."

The Broncos have struggled all year and a 10-6 loss to division rival Kansas City dropped the Broncos to 3-9 this season.

McDaniels was hired by the Broncos prior to the 2009 season. He won the first six games of his young coaching career, but Denver struggled down the stretch, limping to an 8-8 record.

The Broncos and McDaniels were the source of some controversy lately as well. The organization and McDaniels himself were both fined $50,000 for not reporting the fact that the team had illegally videotaped a San Francisco 49ers practice prior to a recent game in London.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports via Twitter that the Broncos have tabbed running backs coach Eric Studesville as the interim head coach.
