Estimated to be the 39th richest man in the world by Forbes, the 6-foot-7 Prokhorov is noted for being an expert businessman, adrenaline junky and ladies’ man. And with over $13 billion to his name, Prokhorov has all the cash needed to pursue his various interests.
The billionaire has previous experience owning a basketball team in CSKA Moscow and claims that winning is important to him. And as Bill Simmons has pointed out, Prokhorov considered sports to be his second-greatest passion in life — ahead of food, human interaction and women — but slightly behind business.
When it comes to noteworthy NBA owners, Prokhorov has plenty of competition. He’s yet to publish a scathing letter in Comic Sans, a la Cavs owner Dan Gilbert, or call out officials over Twitter like Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.
But with a background as diverse and interesting as Prokhorov’s, it’s safe to say anything is possible.
