Reports: Nationals, Blue Jays Pursuing Zack Greinke, But Yankees ‘Reluctant’ to Make Move

Zach Greinke could have a new home in 2011. Just don’t expect the Royals’ right-hander to land in the Bronx.

Sports Illustrated’s Jon Heyman tweeted on Monday night that the Bombers would be “reluctant” to trade for Greinke, even if free-agent lefty Cliff Lee didn’t sign with the Yankees. Lee, of course, signed with the Phillies hours later.

Conventional wisdom suggests that the Yankees would be a little more desperate come Tuesday, but according to ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick, it’s still unlikely that the Yankees will pursue the 2009 AL Cy Young winner. The Nationals and Blue Jays, however, are aggressively pushing to acquire Greinke.

If the Nationals miss out on Greinke, they could acquire Tampa Bay right-hander Matt Garza.
