Some more good news for Red Sox fans has arrived.
Adrian Gonzalez has been cleared to hit off a tee in the cage at spring camp in Fort Meyers, the Red Sox announced Monday.
Heidi Watney reports via Twitter that Gonzalez’ shoulder has full range of motion, no tenderness and excellent strength.
Gonzalez had offseason surgery on his right shoulder, and swinging a bat is another positive step in his rehab process.
Red Sox physicians performed routine physicals on Friday and determined that Gonzalez’ shoulder was ready for him to take cuts off a tee.
Gonzalez took 20-25 swings on Monday morning and had no soreness in his shoulder, Red Sox manager Terry Francona told reporters.
Gonzalez will continue to add more activities to his routine as his shoulder progresses and he prepares for his first season in a Red Sox uniform.
