Was someone trying to blow up 1/18 of one of the world's most breathtaking golf courses?
According to Mercury News, the answer is yes.
A Monterey Peninsula beach-goer spotted what appeared to be explosive devices at the base of the 40-foot cliff that holds up the ninth hole at Pebble Beach Golf Links on Sunday morning, says police.
The Monterey County sheriff's bomb squad was called around 8:30 a.m. local time before inspecting the device and giving it the all-clear.
The beach below Pebble Beach is open to the public.
