P.K. Subban Caps Off Series of Flops With Dive That Will Live Forever in Infamy

Bravo, Les Habitants. Bravo.

After weeks of watching red- and white-sweatered professional hockey players stoop down to thespian levels on the TD Garden and Bell Centre surfaces, the Bruins were finally able to knock out the Canadiens on Wednesday night.

Gone are the flops, dives, embellishments and complaints of the Black and Gold’s rival to the north — until next season, at least. Lars Eller, Carey Price, Roman “Get Up!” Hamrlik, Jaroslav Spacek and Yannick Weber all pitched in with breakthrough performances — admittedly both athletically and theatrically — but defenseman P.K. Subban deserves this spring’s Divey Award for his work with Gregory Campbell in the corner during the first period of Game 7, a play NESN’s Andy Brickley dubbed “an absolute joke … embarrassing.”

Quote of the day

It’s safe to say that 37-year-old Tim Thomas has more than a few gray hairs in his beard, as almost every pro athlete in Boston starts going gray by his third year here.

“That’s what overtime is all about. I think I have a few more gray hairs in my beard over here.”
Tim Thomas, referring to Game 7
