ESPN’s Bill Simmons, nicknamed “The Sports Guy,” is one of the country’s most well-known sports bloggers. So when he announced that he, in association with ESPN, will be launching Grantland.com, a sports and pop-culture website, it was immediately met with a lot of anticipation.
But Simmons revealed on the Tony Kornheiser Show that the anticipation has led to some butterflies. He said that it’s much easier to be a writer and be responsible for only what he does.
Now, though, Simmons will serve as the editor-in-chief of the website, which he says is 70 percent sports and 30 percent pop culture.
“It’s one of those things that it seemed like a great idea until we actually started doing it,” Simmons said. “And now we’re in the middle of it, and now I just have this pit in my stomach all the time.”
The website, which is set to feature renowned sports writers from around the country, is expected to include original columns, long-form features, blog posts, and podcasts, according to ESPN.
