Most will remember the 2011 NBA playoffs as a year when the NBA’s old guard fell, Dirk Nowitzki did his best to alter his legacy, and new powerhouses in Chicago, Oklahoma City, Miami — and even Memphis emerged.
Some, though, will remember it as the year when NBA players all decided it was cool to dress like nerds at postgame press conferences. Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Russell Westbrook have all been in on the act, but the movement’s true icon has been Kevin Durant — and his chest-strapped backpack.
Now, according to NewsOK.com, you’ll be able to get a copy of KD’s signature accessory as part of Nike’s upcoming KD III line.
“People say they like it. People say they don’t,” Durant said. “I’m going to stick with it. … That’s my thing.”
As for what KD keeps in his backpack, the mystery remains.
“I know he doesn’t have any money in there,” coach Scott Brooks said. “He never bought a meal in his life. You can guarantee (money’s) something he doesn’t have.”
Teammate Eric Maynor, though, has one idea.
“Nate [Robinson]’s in there sometimes,” he proclaimed.
