Have you ever wanted to watch a Red Sox game from inside the Green Monster? Have you ever wanted to see what the view is like from the NESN announcers' seats? How about kicking back and talking baseball with Theo Epstein as the Red Sox play at Fenway Park?
Now, you can, thanks to the eighth annual Legends of the Ball, presented by Good Sports.
The event will raise money to support youth sports, fitness and recreation. NESN's Tom Caron and WEEI's Glenn Ordway will be emcees for the event, which will offer some truly unique auction items. Here are just a few.
Score the Green Monster
Go where most fans only dream of going by spending three innings inside the Green Monster and helping keep the official score at a 2011 Red Sox regular-season home game. The package includes four infield grandstand tickets, where you will be able to catch the rest of the action.
Watch Red Sox Game with Top Brass
On Aug. 16, you and three friends will watch the Red Sox take on Tampa Bay in the same luxury box as Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein and Good Sports advisory board member Ben Cherington. Enjoy dinner and refreshments in the suite while you watch the game. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Dinner with Rob Gronkowski
You and three of your friends will join New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski for a four-course chef's tasting menu paired with wine at Davio's at Patriot Place. This is guaranteed to be a meal you'll never forget.
Behind the Scenes of Boston Sports Media
This ultimate sports fan experience will begin on July 7 with four field box tickets to watch the Red Sox take on the Baltimore Orioles. Before the game, you will enjoy on-field viewing of batting practice with NESN's Tom Caron. Then, you will visit the NESN broadcast booth to meet Don Orsillo and Jerry Remy and check out how NESN's announcers see the game. After a tour of Fenway, you will end up on Yawkey Way, where you will watch Tom Caron and Peter Gammons deliver a live pregame show. Following the show, you will retreat to your field box seats to enjoy the game. If that wasn't enough, you'll have the opportunity on another day to get a behind-the-scenes look at the popular sports radio show, The Big Show on WEEI. Visit with Glenn Ordway and Michael Holley while getting a look at the production side most people never get to see.
Other auction items include having Mike Cameron to your house for a Wiffle Ball game, a sushi lesson with Hideki Okajima and a 2011 MLB All-Star weekend getaway. In addition to these great auction items, there will be live music, networking opportunities and food from 11 of the area's best restaurants.
The event will take place June 2 at Royale in Boston from 6:30-11:30 p.m. Tickets cost $150 apiece, or $1,000 for 10 tickets. For more information about the event, visit GoodSports.org.
