What Grade Would You Give the Red Sox for April?

April has come to an end, which means there is one month of baseball in the books. Per usual, there have been plenty of big moments in the MLB season thus far. Some have been better than others, but it’s been an interesting month to say the least, especially for the Red Sox.

The Sox currently stand at 11-15 and in last place in the American League East, five games behind the division-leading New York Yankees. Boston started out 0-6, and then 2-10, before turning things around and winning eight of its next nine games.

The Red Sox are 18th in the MLB in runs scored (107) and batting average (.244). After the rough start, in which the Sox’ team ERA was over 7.00, it has since decreased to 4.33 — 20th in the majors.

Some players on the Red Sox roster performed better than others in April. Jed Lowrie has surprised some fans and Adrian Gonzalez seems to be finding his groove, while Carl Crawford continues to make adjustments at the plate.

The Red Sox are 1-5 in one-run games this season, but Jonathan Papelbon is 5-for-5 in save opportunities.

The American League looks like it could have a tight race this season, with all five teams playing each other tough.
