Well, all that rumbling and grumbling about Adrian Gonzalez playing the outfield turned out to be worthwhile. The Red Sox have penciled their star first baseman into the lineup card Wednesday as the right fielder.
Gonzalez will play in right field for just the second time in his career, allowing David Ortiz to start at first base and bat fifth. The lineup has sorely missed Ortiz over the last four games, as he's been reduced to pinch-hitting appearances late in games. The Sox have lost three of their last four games, all of which were in National League ballparks.
Vance Worley will be on the hill for Philly, and the 23-year-old has not faced any of the current Sox.
