Kyrie Irving Taken by Cavaliers With No. 1 Pick in NBA Draft

The Cleveland Cavaliers ended the "suspsense" and took the player most expected them to take when they selected Kyrie Irving with the No. 1 overall pick in Thursday's NBA draft.

Irving, the 6-foot-2 point guard out of Duke, was considered by many to be the safest pick in a relatively weak draft.

After being a highly touted recruit out of St. Patrick's in New Jersey, Irving went to Duke where he saw limited action thanks to a toe injury.

Irving played in just 11 games during his freshman season, but he did average just over 17 points and four assists per game for the Blue Devils.
