Despite the pleading of their Pro-Bowl quarterback Michael Vick, wide receiver Plaxico Burress will not become the Eagles' second straight NFL Comeback Player of the Year, as the team has no interest in signing him, the New York Post reports.
The former Giant was released Monday after serving 20 months in prison for two felony weapons charges. And while there is technically no free-agent signing period with the ongoing lockout, that hasn't stopped Vick from advocating his case for Burress.
"He definitely brings a lot to the game, his passion, enthusiasm and the way he plays," Vick said. "It's actually easier being a receiver and coming back and playing the game. You have to get your legs back up under you. It's tough. You think you can do it, but you have to take that time out and make sure you're ready to go."
Apparently, though, the Eagles do not agree, and according to "a person familiar with the team's thinking," they have no intention of bringing Burress aboard for next season.
