Report: Randy Moss an Option for Jets

The Jets agreed to a five-year deal with receiver Santonio Holmes on Wednesday morning, a move that could spell the end of Braylon Edwards' tenure in New York.

It also may usher in a new era for Randy Moss.

The veteran wideout and future Hall of Famer "has emerged as an option for the Jets," according to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora.

Moss, presumably, will be an inexpensive option for teams looking to add a receiver. He played for three different teams last season, and didn't perform particularly well at any of his stops. He had nine catches in four games for the Patriots, 13 catches in four games with the Vikings and just six catches in eight games with the Titans.

By the end of it, he had compiled just 393 receiving yards (by far his lowest ever) and five touchdowns (second-lowest total), and worst of all, he became mostly a spectator for the 6-10 Titans.

If the 34-year-old were to end up in New York, it would only add to the pageantry that has become the Jets-Patriots rivalry in recent years, although he'd be a major downgrade from Edwards (53 receptions, 904 yards, seven touchdowns).
