O'Connor gave herself over $300,000 in bonuses after the Giants won the World Series despite a yearly salary in the neighborhood of $80,000, KGO-TV in San Francisco reports.
She was caught after trying to forge a letter from the team explaining large deposits to her bank for "her outstanding contributions … that assisted [the Giants] in accomplishing [their] goal of winning the 2010 World Series," according to court documents.
When Bank of America tried to confirm the bonuses with the Giants, the team fired O'Connor and alerted the feds.
"I'm reminded of what prosecutors often say to juries," says KGO legal analyst Dean Johnson. "We don't catch the smart ones. The people who get convicted are people who leave enough evidence behind to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt."
If convicted, O'Connor could face up to ten years in prison.
