Editor's note: Every day leading up to the start of the 2011-12 season, NESN.com will post one fight from the 2010-11 Bruins season. At the end of each week, fans can vote for what they thought was the best fight of the week, and after every fight has been posted, they can vote on which fight was the best of the year.
Two weeks in a row, Shawn Thornton appears as the Bruins representative in the fight of the week, for a chance to become the Bruins Fight of the Year.
Thornton's fight with Darcy Hordichuck faced competition from Thornton's mix up with Eric Boulton, two Adam McQuaid tussles, a Matt Hunwick–Evander Kane fight and bouts involving two favorite Bruins, Zdeno Chara and Mark Recchi.
However, the Bruins bad boy took home his second fight of the week in three tries, with his bout against Hordichuck receiving an 8.1 on hockeyfights.com — the highest rating of the season for the B's. After about a minute of wild haymakers, the refs stopped the fight with both guys wearing the damage on their face.
Thornton joins his fight with Eric Godard and Nathan Horton's fight with Dion Phaneuf as the three weekly winners thus far.
