The Massachusetts native and former UConn star was inactive Sunday against the Patriots. He was happy to see his family after spending the last two months on the west coast, but the business trip was unsuccessful.
"It was great [to return to New England]," Todman said. "I got like 30 tickets for my family and friends, and it was cool to see them. Now living in San Diego, Calif., it's a long way from home. I didn't come here for vacation. I came here to play football and to get a win. It was cool to see my family, but we are still leaving without a win."
Todman has been inactive for each of the Chargers' two games, and he's been dealing with the adversity of entering the league as a sixth-round draft pick.
"It's been very difficult," Todman said. "You are going up against the best of the best. The competition is at a crazy level, and it's difficult to get on the field. You just do whatever you can do to help, whether it's on special teams, practice, anything to get the opportunity to get in the game."
Before becoming a star at UConn, he led the Dartmouth offense to the 2007 Division I Super Bowl, where his Indians lost in overtime to Everett. In that game at Gillette Stadium, Todman rushed for three touchdowns and nearly 200 yards.
