The most important position in baseball is widely considered to be the starting pitcher, and with John Lackey going under the knife this offseason and likely to miss 2012, the Red Sox are in need of a hurler or two.

Fortunately for the Sox and their fans, the team will have the opportunity to upgrade the position this offseason via free agency.

Like every offseason, a number of pitchers will be open for business negotiations with new clubs, and Boston figures to be in the mix.
