Norv Turner Fires Back at Rex Ryan, Calls Out Jets Head Coach for Super Bowl Guarantees

Jets head coach Rex Ryan took a break from his usual Super Bowl guarantees on Wednesday to tell everyone he would have had "a couple [of] rings" if he were the head coach of the San Diego Chargers the past few years.

The man who got that job instead of Ryan, Norv Turner, spoke with reporters on Wednesday in regard to Ryan's comments, and pointed out that the value of Ryan's word is diminished by those previous guarantees.

"I hadn't seen his quote and I was a little bit surprised by the call," Turner said. "And then after I saw the quote, I didn't have a chance to ask him this, but I was wondering if he had those rings with the ones he's guaranteed the last couple of years."

This isn't the first time Turner has launched a zinger at his critics. He fired back on former Colts head coach Tony Dungy back in 2010 for comments the NBC analyst made about poor play from his special teams unit and the subsequent reflection on Turner's status as a head coach.

This time, though, Turner was careful to cover his bases and make sure he wasn't instigating.

"It really was between he and I," said Turner. "I think we've had enough coaching drama in the league the last few days and we don't need any more."
