FOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes underwent tests Monday after suffering a knee injury Sunday against the Giants.
Pats cornerback Kyle Arrington collided with Spikes while breaking up a third-down pass to the end zone in the third quarter of New England's 24-20 loss. Spikes immediately went to the locker room and never returned.
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said Monday he had no indication of whether it would be a long-term injury, though his comments made it sound like it might not be a serious issue.
"He's having some tests done [Monday], and we'll see how he responds," Belichick said. "It's hard to tell right after the game, a lot of adrenaline going and all that. Take a look at it [Monday] and see what it looks like [Tuesday]. Sometimes those things clear up, [and] they're bruises. Sometimes they're more than that, and it will take a little bit longer. We'll probably get a little bit better idea of it [Tuesday] and see if he can practice on Wednesday."
