Take one name out of the Red Sox’ managerial hat.

According to Red Sox executive vice president and general manager Ben Cherington, Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux is no longer a candidate to fill the void left by Terry Francona.

“[Maddux] has withdrawn his name from consideration for the Boston Red Sox managerial position and therefore will not interview with the team tomorrow,” Cherington said in a statement.
