Toronto has discussed signing one of the many big-name closers available on the free-agent market, including Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon, ESPN's Buster Olney reports. The Blue Jays are also reportedly considering Heath Bell and Joe Nathan, and could try to trade for A's closer Andrew Bailey.
If Papelbon signed with the division foe, the Red Sox would get the Blue Jays' No. 17 pick in the June draft, according to MLB Trade Rumors.
Francisco led Toronto with 17 saves in 54 appearances last season. Rauch was second on the team with 11 saves. The Blue Jays were 26th in the majors in saves in 2011.
