“Madrid’s bad luck is that they play in the same league as Barcelona. In any other league in the world they would win,” the ex-“blaugrana” star said.
The Dutchman’s words came after Barcelona thrashed Brazilian and Copa Libertadores champions Santos 4-0 in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup, which was held in Japan. He also stated that the Catalan club is the best team on the planet and has no rival.
Cruyff also feels that the comparison between Lionel Messi and Neymar is unjust.
“Neymar is young, talented and a great footballer with a good head on his shoulders, but Messi is above all other players,” he said.
The Dutch legend was quick to congratulate Barcelona boss, Josep Guardiola, and stated that without him Barcelona would not play the brand of football they currently play.
“Playing with three defenders depends heavily on a high level of football. Without Pep it would be difficult to play like that,” he said.
“Today is a historic day, because for the first time someone has been able to soundly beat the Brazilians,” he said in an interview with Esport 3.
“Pep is doing a great job and its important everyone enjoys FC Barcelona,” he added.
