The charge stems from an incident that took place when Suarez was leaving the field at Fulham’s Craven Cottage following Liverpool’s 1-0 loss. He was photographed saluting taunting fans as he headed for the tunnel.
Suarez now faces two FA raps, after he was charged with racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra when the two teams met in October. The Uruguayan pled not-guilty to that charge and will have a hearing with the FA in the coming weeks.
Liverpool was also charged by English soccer’s governing body for failing to control its players in the game. The FA didn’t take kindly to the scenes that followed Jay Spearing‘s 72nd minute dismissal. The club released a brief statement concerning both charges.
“The Club will take the appropriate time to properly review the documentation sent to us before making any further comment,” it reads.
