Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Nyjer Morgan has an itch for the ice.
According to MLB.com, Morgan has been invited to skate with his hometown NHL team, the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday.
Morgan, best known for his walk-off single that sent the Brewers into the 2011 NLCS, is an avid hockey fan and actually quit the sport in hopes of making a career for himself in Major League Baseball. In fact, Morgan was pretty good at hockey and made it all the way to Canada’s Western Hockey League where he played for the Regina Pats.
The Regina Pats have produced multiple NHL’ers, including Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle, as well as Bruins alums Brad Stuart and Derek Morris.
The Brewers Organization is hoping that this is just a one-time thing for their outfielder, and after losing pitcher Zack Greinke for a month due to a game of pick-up basketball last summer, who can blame them?
