The breakaway challenge at the NHL’s skills competition allows players to get creative, and Ducks winger Corey Perry took advantage of that luxury.
Perry went up against St. Louis Blues netminder Brian Elliott during Saturday’s event, and he decided to ditch his usual stick for something smaller. Much smaller.
Perry skated in on Elliott and stopped halfway. He then busted out a mini hockey stick before resuming his shooutout attempt, which ended in a goal.
The goal is awesome because, well, who doesn’t love a good game of mini hockey? Of course, such sticks are typically limited to knee hockey in the hallway, but it’s good to see Perry turn to something we all know and love for one of his attempts.
