Charles Mainor, a Jersey City assemblyman, learned on Monday what many high school and college students have known for some time now: posting things to Facebook can actually get you into trouble.

Mainor apologized for a post on his Facebook page made on Sunday about the NFL game between the New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers, according to NJ.com.

"We are not going to just lay down, we come to play," the post reportedly read. "Who the hell do you think we are the DALLAS COWGIRLS OR THOSE GAYBIRDS FROM PHILLY…NO WE ARE THE NEW YORK GIANTS."

Mainor is claiming that he only wrote half of the post, and he blamed the offensive second half of the message on a friend who was typing on his account. However, he did accept blame for his mistake.

"I have to take full responsibility because it was under my name," he said. "I have no excuse, other than me not looking before he did send the post."
