New York City Bar Not Selling Boston-Based Samuel Adams Beer During Super Bowl

Samuel Adams beer, as pretty much any of-age consumers can attest, is pretty darn good. It's also from Boston. That second part will apparently be enough to trump the first part for a New York City bar during the Super Bowl.

CNBC's Darren Rovell reports that Foley's NY, a pub in New York City, will not be serving Samuel Adams beer during the Super Bowl between the Giants and the Patriots. Foley's doesn't want to support a "Boston-based brand during the Super Bowl."

Interestingly, the Foley's beer menu also features Harpoon IPA straight out of, you guessed it, Boston. 

The Foley's menu doesn't appear to feature New England clam chowder, but if it did, it's probably safe to assume you wouldn't be able to get it at Foley's on Feb. 5.

Larry Brown Sports also points out that the bar's owner, Shaun Clancy, is putting his money where his mouth is. The Boston Herald reported that Clancy and Dropkick Murhpys lead singer (and owner of Boston bar McGreevy's) Ken Casey are wagering the proceeds from their respective shepherd's pies from now until baseball's Opening Day.

At the end of that time, the losing owner will have to donate all of the proceeds to the other owner's charity of choice.
