Report: Longtime Mets Coach Randy Niemann to Join Red Sox Staff as Assistant Pitching Coach

After 24 years with the Mets, Randy Niemann is headed to Boston to join Bobby Valentine's staff.

The Red Sox reportedly hired Mets rehab pitching coordinator –– and once the organization's bullpen coach –– to become the team's assistant pitching coach on Tuesday, according to MLB.com.

Niemann, 56, will be reunited with Valentine, his boss on the Mets from 1997 to 1999. By taking the job, Niemann becomes the third coach with Mets ties. First base coach Alex Ochoa and bench coach Tim Bogar were the others to round out Valentine's staff.

As a player, Niemann pitched in 122 games through eight seasons, tallying a career 7-8 record with a 4.64 ERA
