Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien will not be taking over as head coach at Penn State.
According to CBS Sports' Charley Casserly, O'Brien will not become the Nittany Lions' coach, a report that comes on the heels of rumors that the New England coordinator was the school's top choice for the position.
Penn State has reportedly interviewed 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman, and it plans to take another shot at Boise State head coach Chris Petersen.
However, ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted Monday night that the Jacksonville Jaguars have requested and have been granted permission to speak with O'Brien about their coaching vacancy. Schefter also added that Penn State still has O'Brien on its radar.
O'Brien and Patriots head coach Bill Belichick denied to comment on the initial rumors following their 49-21 victory over the Bills on Sunday, but quarterback Tom Brady spoke highly of his relationship with O'Brien, saying that he hopes the coordinator remains in New England for a long time.
O'Brien, a native of Dorchester, Mass., joined the Patriots organization as an offensive assistant in 2007. He became the team's offensive coordinator in February.
