Tom Brady ‘Still Can’t Watch Highlights’ From Super Bowl XLII Loss to Giants

Talk about an emotional and unforgettable evening.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady appeared on WEEI's Dennis and Callahan Show on Monday morning to discuss the team's AFC championship win over the Ravens and described what was happening on the sidelines and inside his head while kicker Billy Cundiff shanked the game-tying field goal in the final moments of the contest.

"You look up and the ball doesn't go in," Brady recalled. "I looked at Billy [O'Brien], and Billy ran over to me. We gave each other a hug. It was a pretty cool feeling. It was a very special night. We'll never forget that game."

One game pretty much everyone in New England do try to forget is Super Bowl XLII, when they lost to Eli Manning and the Giants.

"I still can't watch highlights from that game," Brady said. "I think that's just the way it is. You get to the end and we had a great opportunity there and really squandered it, because we didn't play our very best."

But what he will watch is film from the Pats loss to the Giants this past season, on Nov. 6, 2011.

"We'll certainly look at that game, several times," Brady said. "You see matchups. You see how your guys match up against their guys — route-running and blocking and so forth. It will have absolutely zero impact on the game, but at the same time, hopefully we can learn some lessons from that game.

"It was a great game," he added. "It sets up for a great rematch between two teams who have earned the right to represent their conferences in the Super Bowl."
