Egypt Soccer Violence Among 10 Deadliest Incidents to Ever Take Place at Soccer Stadiums (Photos)

The violence at a soccer game in Port Said, Egypt, on Feb. 1, 2012 left over 70 dead and hundreds more injured. It was one of the deadliest incidents to take place at a soccer stadium anywhere in the world.

In fact, the Egypt violence was the deadliest such incident in over a decade. Most tragedies like these involve some sort of panic, followed by a stampede or crowd crush. Mismanagement by police and stadium officials is often at work, making for a deadly combination.

The incidents are not confined to one area or region of the world. Deadly outcomes have been seen in South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and elsewhere. We take a look at some of the deadliest incidents at soccer stadiums in this sobering photo gallery.
